Everyone: As you know, the Delta variant has picked up steam, and so we are as well.   We're adding in more pop-up clinics to our usual Fall flu clinics.  In addition to community event pop-ups, Thursdays at 69th St. are back.  We're also looking at re-opening the Chester site to vaccines on certain days and we've added a PA SIIS mission at Yeadon, so there's an increased need for both medical and non-medical volunteers.…

by Ed Kline, MCM Emergency Planner, Department of Emergency Services, County of Delaware Kids and COVID. Just participated in a webinar put on by Nemours and Jefferson Health on kids returning to school. A panel of pediatricians answered questions and concerns. Here are my raw notes. Read it, don't read it. That is up to you. There is no agenda here. Covid for kids… Wear a mask over 2 years old. Kids will surprise you. Practice for short times for younger kids. It is June 1, 2021, and we are about to go on a holiday break. We are winding down our activities within the Covid-19 Task Force for the summer and it is a good time to reset, take stock, and refresh ourselves. While you are on vacation or staycation, I want to let you know that I am available to call, I am available to email and I available to listen to you. I have benefitted from the feedback emails you have sent to us and which I read and to which I responded. I welcome the conversation.…
The Next Phase for Us
The next phase of our program will give you an opportunity to recharge and renew as well as participate in CCDC training. Vaccination demand is down, missions are reduced, responses to missions are down; the world is opening up with more activities and family events, vacations, some back to work, and life will be more normal than what we have experienced. To ensure that vaccinations can continue throughout the summer, it is necessary to hire paid staff at Chester, Yeadon, and Springfield,…
How to Fall Safely
Here is a good video from Jack Szychtel about how to fall properly and safely.
I have become more self-aware.   I realize I am Type A personality and thrive on efficiency.  There were times during deployments that I wanted to jump up and down, scream, pull my hair.  I didn't.  It was better to practice deep breathing and self-control.  I utilized the path of deployment briefings.  If I had an issue with a fellow volunteer, I thought of techniques to make it a win-win situation for both of us.  There were a number of personal challenges.  I usually like challenges.…

What you see below from June 2018 is part of the answer. Every year from 2006 to present the team executed multiple stakeholder education and training events, 2-4 Point of Dispensing (POD) functional exercises (FE),…
